its time for me to get my welding certs up to date and booked a test with coding4welders in stick.
done a fillet and v butt on my previous bs4872 test but went for fillets only test as its what i do mainly on my site welding.
10mm plate vertical up and over head fillet, all with 3 passes of a 2.5mm 7016 comet j50
could have used a bigger rod and had less restarts, the 3.2mm rods were in my oven but i had a fresh vac pac of the j50's and prefered the guaranteed dry pack.
the plates had the mill scale ground off and the slightly convexed edge of the plate was ground to flat to ensure good pen.
all welds were done at approx 70-75 amps
the top pic is the vert up and the second is the ovrhead
the test guy was happy with my pieces so we decided to put them in for en287 structural class 1 test
unfortunately its a 4 week wait from zurich testing so will have to keep my fingers crossed for a while
