Myford mill

I’m vaguely looking for a little mill, intended for odd jobs, nothing serious. Sort of a mill equivalent of my Boxford AUD.

Saw this, but can’t find much about it. Any thoughts?

Google 6x26 mill. Loads of info. I have the Chester 626 version. It's a decent little mill.

Wish I had room for a larger/more capable machine.....

Small mill by industrial sizes, but check it out if you don't have much space. I discounted one at first sight as it was too big for the space I have.

You need a trip south with a van or a volunteer to go collect it, remove base and strap it to-a pallet

Over 10 hours each way. Perhaps not worth it, unless there’s someone here from the Brighton area willing to have a poke at it…

Contact Caledonian Logistics Inverness, they picked up a lathe for me near Cornwall and delivered to Nairn for a very reasonable price . If your item is under a ton and will fit on a standard size pallet they have a fixed price .

Contact Caledonian Logistics Inverness, they picked up a lathe for me near Cornwall and delivered to Nairn for a very reasonable price . If your item is under a ton and will fit on a standard size pallet they have a fixed price .

I’ve had a few machines palleted here, via Palletways, who use Cali Logisitics for the last leg. Problem here is the seller won’t allow pickup by a pallet courier.

Boxford themselves did a mill around the same era as your AUD - the VM30. Not common, but they do come up for sale.

I would not trust ANY pallet depot to palletise a machine!
They wouldn't have a clue how to swivel the head upside down on a Bridgeport for example.
Pallet shipping is safe IF packaged correctly.

No, but I’ve bought all my machines like that, and the seller was always happy to strap and wrap to a pallet. Not sure what this chap’s problem was. Sold now, anyway.

Having said that, I have had a couple of mishaps:
- 300kg, topheavy Wadkin BRA radial arm saw, simply put on the pallet and wrapped in cling film. Fell off pallet somwhere between Peterborough and Inverness. There are holes in the legs where it could have been bolted to the pallet. Seller was, ironically, a professional joiner, who didn’t think to ‘join’ it to the pallet.

- 600kg Cooksley spindle moulder, which was strapped nicely but somehow got a beating on the way up, cracking part of the cast iron fence. Claimed from Palletways, and they paid up. I even charged them £50 an hour for welding it myself

Contrast that with the chap who sold me the AUD, who must have spent hours bolting, strapping, and removing every last sticky-outy and rattly piece, and carefully parcelling them up in newspaper and boxes inside the cabinets. Proper gent.
