Need a few ideas to attach rope handles.

I've made a planter and I want to put rope handles onto it. The problem is that I have drilled 32mm holes in the planter for a 30mm rope and I neglected to take into consideration that it is quite hard to make a knot with 30mm rope, especially one that is neat and not an eyesore.

How can I secure it from the inside apart from using a knot?

Is it a synthetic rope?
If it is melt the end and squish it into ball?

Splice the ends together with a short splice, plenty of tutorials available online

It's natural Sisal. Its 3 strand 30mm and it seems hard to knot, but I will have a look into splicing, may be just the thing I need.

I was thinking clamps would be easy but I want it to look neat. Maybe I could find a small tidy looking clamp.

I was just in the garden thinking of a way to do that but at a fraction of the cost.

I was wondering whether I could use a hole saw to make a 38/40mm circle and from there use a smaller hole saw to cut a 30mm hole inside of it, to give me a ring and then I could just put a few screws through it and into the rope. My only reservation was whether it would hold.

Maybe a short section of pipe that the rope could be inserted into from both ends and then filled with araldite or similar

pull the rope thru the hole, open the rope with a spike and insert a short dowel thru the middle, do a search on fleabay for heat shrink caps and shrink a cap on the end of the rope

they are not expensive and they are invaluable around the house, thats a tool you can pick up from screwfix for not many pounds

did a quick search on screwfix and there is one for £19.99 by Titan or the one I have got is by Dewalt for £39.99, its ideal for stripping paint from doors, applying vinyl wrap, removing stickers, there are many uses for it and its another toy for ya shed

Ah thanks, mate. That's not too bad at all.

What diameter caps would I need for a 30mm rope. Can't find an obvious answer. I'm guessing if I buy a 30mm one iit would shrink tight to the rope...

shrink caps are probably just the same as shrink tubing, you will be suprised how much they can contract and conform to the shape of the rope

this one is 35mm cold and when shrunk it can go down to 15mm......might be worth a go ?

On cables they tend to pull off easy there just to keep the water out while pulling in or storage. Not sure how much of a bite they would get on rope
