Need a Snap On man

My 1/4 drive ratchet is 18 years old (first proper tool I bought) and today it has just died and keeps spinning.

Never abused it and has always worked fine, however it's been 15 years since I've worked in a garage so I'm a little out of touch

Anyone know who to contact in the Leeds/Bradford area?

If no one can help, have a search on face book if you use it. A lot of dealers use them to advertise deals etc

Or go into any local garage and ask the mechanics "What day does the Snap-on man come round"

Mrs Kayos uses facepain so I will get her to look, due to work I'm usually home once all the garages are shut

I've never had to use the warranty on any of my snap on gear, is it just swap it for a new one or repair on the spot?

It will get a new head, if one is not available anymore you will get a new one

If you ring the contact centre they will give you the local mans number, I had to do this but the snag I had was the spanners were no longer made so it took ages to get replacement but give them some credit they did swap them in the end, a ratchet should be easy as they usually carry spare parts on the van but they may well charge you

Because all these life time guarantees are exempt of the moving parts in stuff like ratchets as they wear. Saying that from what I hear often on snap-on the guy disregards and just replaces.

I certainly have never been charged for ratchet repairs, and would not tolerate it if they tried! It is a proper warranty on the hand tools such as this providing it isn't showing signs of clear abuse.

The entire ratchet mechanism gets replaced as a whole unit.

I doubt they will change it over or repair it free of charge if you're a new customer and haven't had any tools off of them.

What do snap on deem as the lifetime of the ratchet ? It will have a time period on it

Just read the t's and c's and unless it's been abused it will be fixed or replaced, no time limit

Lifetime on manufacturing defect not on wear.If you have a regular dealer they will stand the repair under goodwill.I need to find a dealer for a broken screwdriver blade, expecting to have to pay for it though.

That's the thing, it's suddenly gone from working fine to spinning, that's a fault and not wear imo

I've found that you will only get "goodwill repairs" if you owe the franchise man money!!

I stopped my local dealer once about a broken blade clamp on an air saw
Said it wasn't covered under warranty so I paid him the cost of the spare part about a £10 I think, he took my address and said he would pop it in the post. Part never arrived
Stopped him again explained what happened he said his wife was supposed to post it and he would sort it out when he got home
Needless to say never did get the part

i would have reported him to snap on, they have a reputation and i cant imagine they would have been happy at that
