This is my bridge too far. I've given up hope on finishing it, Ive been at it 7 years now. But, I'm gonna do more work on it anyway.
I gotta tell you it looks pretty cool in the garage. But, when I welded the floor in, the beams warped, and now I cant rely on the straighness of the beams at all.
So I'm thinking, can I get rails that are completely straight? Like if I get 35mm Hiwin rails, will they be completely straight over a span of 3.5 meters?
I have aluminium 8020 rails, seem in the picture above. The kind people on here suggested packing them, but there are several planes to contend with and it boggles my brain. Those rails are not rigid, and therefore not straight.
I could probably get them straight with enough work but again, my mind boggles, there are several planes to contend with, its like trying to imagine the edge of the universe, for me, I get lost.
I have my uncle coming to take a look at it, he works in robotics, so he should have a clue.
One thing that worries me about buying rails - If I buy them from China, will they arrive undamaged and perfectly straight?
