Need to change my cut in pressure

My compressor restarts at about 4 bar but my Sperian air fed mask needs a minimum of 4 bar or a loud whistle goes off then consumes double the air.

Is there any way to change the "cut in" pressure so that it restarts at about 6. I checked the manual and it is actually supposed to restart at 6 bar but it does not show how to change it.

The compressor is the Aldi 50l parkside PKO400A1 and a Wolf Soux 25l ( I haven't checked this one yet), the controller looks the same on both.

Take the top off the pressure switch ("controller") and there should be a screw in the centre of a heavy spring. Tighten this screw a few turns at a time to increase the cut-in pressure. You're supposed to adjust this screw with some pressure in the tank.

Post a picture if yours is different.

For info they often have a set range so increasing the cut in pressure also increases the cut out pressure.

It looks like this, seems there is just one adjustment, if I go much higher I will end up hitting the safety blow off valve. It looks like the range is just wrong on this unit.

I will move it up and down a bit when I get time tomorrow to see if it I can get it up a bit or get it working as it should, otherwise I'll order up a new switch, there seems to be plenty of these on amazon/ebay.

I tried adjusting it today but couldn't get the cut in pressure high enough as it also adjusted to cut out pressure.

Looks like I need to buy a new controller/switch.

What psi is the compressor actually cutting in at right now ?
It should be cutting in at 85 psi. Was the compressor brand new when you got it ? Has it always cut in too low ? How old is the machine ?

It is a "Aldi 50l parkside PKO400A1", it is cutting in just below 5 and out at just below 8. The manual says it should be 6 and 8.

I have had the compressor for just over 3 years from new (I checked as it has a 3 year warranty which just expired), I suspect it has always been this way but I never noticed as it was just used for air tools before. I also checked my other compressor which does start/stop and 6/8bbar.

there are some variants to plumbing fitment under the switch, hopefully you will have the right one. 85 to 90 psi should be your cut in pressure

I fitted the new switch today, works perfectly, cuts out at 8 bar and in at 6.
