needle gun?

I am looking for a needle gun / descaler, thought I had better ask before a certain person with an Iveco buys them all up!
I think I heard somewhere that the ebay ones are no good, anyone bought a budget one that works?
or anyone got a cheap one for sale?
only really want it at the moment to remove the hard toffee apple glaze underseal from the Mk2 Jag, it does come off quite easily but there are acres of it, clean painted metal underneath for the most part but as it chips off so easily I want it gone, don't usually bother to remove the modern hot applied nylon stuff from BMW's as it causes no problems,

Have you tried using one of the vibrating multi tool jobbies with a scraper blade? I would have thought it would have worked better than a needle gun for underseal.

don't have a multi tool but the way this chips off I think a needle gun would be the way to go, any idea what brand yours is? a multi tool would probably be much better for the 70's BMW gear,

I have a Clarke pro air hammer with a cheapy ebay needle adapter, works well enough

I have a Clarke one that came in a kit as an air chisel attachment, it works well on rust and I have chased underseal off with it even the rubberised stuff. Easy to distort panels if you are not careful and leaves a peened finish.

Mines a Lidl one that was on half price offer, I haven’t tried it on underseal, just making a suggestion, they seem to work on everything else.

I've got a Parkside/lidl one and a damn near 40 year old one that screws onto my 40 year old air hammer...………. both are extremely loud.

However, I would really like to source a reasonably priced needle scaler attachment that fits onto an SDS hammer drill, a building contractor I know has one and it doesn't break 90dB in action

The zoro/cromwell/Kobe mini one is quite nice and I think made in Taiwan. If you play your cards right you can pick it up for £50 when on a deal.
I've also got a bigger one that attaches to an air hammer, seems OK.

Needle guns are really for use on thick steel i have even seen them damage 15mm thick deck plates on the ship. I would not be using one on anything less than a landy chassis which is 2.5 to 3 mm thick.

Poly disks are great generate a lot of dust mind.

I suspect a needle gun will be too aggressive on car panel metal. Ive seen them used on heavy structural steel work but they are declining in use as they produce massive amounts of hand transmitted vibration and use huge amounts of air.

I have a lidl one it's loud and likes air. I use it for cleaning surfaces and welding slag chipping/removal.

For the price a good tool, I'd like a full on industrial one but I can't justify the high cost.

maybe best for me to buy the cheapest ebay one as it will probably be rubbish and not destroy the body panels, mainly inner wheel arches and chassis members not doors etc. I have a lot of air from the Hydrovane 33,
