Needle gun

I have the needle gun bellow which is okay but it’s quite heavy handed. Like fettling a watch with a club hammer. I’m after something more refined and controlled. We have a blue point one at work which is much smaller and seems so much more user friendly. Obviously they don’t make them but are there any others people can recommend that are decent. Thanks

If using for more than a few minutes gloves are a good idea against vibes and the cold.

The sealey ones are pretty good.

I have a similar one as yours and also a small CP one like the one in the link below.
They both have their uses but the CP gets by far the most use.

Keeping the needles sharp (i.e. flat and square at the point) really helps the performance.

You can get an attachment for some Hilti drills that works well, but they are expensive and bulky.
If you have the room they are nice to use and have far lower vibration levels.

I was wondering if anyone has tried and had good results, with an SDS+ fitting needle scaler on an electric drill/breaker? It's a Makita with a breaker setting. ( bought from Sardine). The job is de scaling a few sq metres of rusty steel deck. I don't know if this is a good idea or even...

I just found one that looks the same for £35 here. Hopefully that’ll be the same. If not I’ll send it back and wait till I’m over next. Or my partner. Won’t be long no doubt

I can highly recommend the Trelawnys. I got two VL303s from eBay so I didn't have to interchange the ends between needles and chisel (for removing cement render) but could just swap tools. One advertised as a VL203 but it turned out to be a VL303, which is the same except slightly more heavy duty. Parts are available, and they're a lot quieter and more manageable than the equivalent rotary hammer. I have some anti-vibration gloves and haven't had any ill effects with quite heavy use - as Brad93 says, get the 'VL' or 'Very Low vibration' model. They run all day on a 3HP compressor at 90psi which fills faster than they can run it down (one at a time).

Looks decent. I have a Kobe compact needle gun and it's great for prepping and getting to hard to reach areas. As said above it helps a lot of you keep grinding the needles square again on a bench grinder.
