Needle scaler bit for Makita drill?

I was wondering if anyone has tried and had good results, with an SDS+ fitting needle scaler on an electric drill/breaker? It's a Makita with a breaker setting. ( bought from Sardine).
The job is de scaling a few sq metres of rusty steel deck. I don't know if this is a good idea or even possible, I have only used air needle guns. What's a reasonable brand with replaceable needles? If it is even a sane proposition.. Thanks

Hilti do a version that works well but spendy, they can be hired but are still spendy.
I don't know of a universal version but can't see why they would not work well.
I made a cheap versions a bristle blaster recently which would be excellent for your job but that was not cheap either (unless compared to the real thing) and the consumables are also expensive

To my knowledge, you cannot buy a needle scaler that plugs directly into an SDS chuck. Think for a minute how it might work: a pneumatic hammer acting on a single 10mm dia. shank somehow has to apply that effort to multiple, 3-4mm needles (that are rather loosely contained in their housing).

The only brand name electric needle scaler I know is the Hilti TE300. On this, the whole SDS chuck comes off and the scaler attachment goes in its place. If you search 'electric needle scaler' on Google, you will see the range of tools available.

Not sure how effective it will be. The painters on our site use air powered needle scalers powered by road compressors and 3/4" lines, and they're still not fast going.

I have to admit, it looks tempting to buy and try. But it's not even available, and to me that would suggest that they weren't very successful...

Seems to come with 12 or 19 needles and replacement needle packs are available.

It also looks like Bosch used to do an electric one, but does not seem available any more (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-Professional-2607018299-Needle-descaler/dp/B00141D8EO).

I've got an air needle scaler, and it is a handy bit of kit. Seems to work quite fast to get loose rust scale off and clean down to good metal pretty well. Gets through air, but not too bad.
It's also good for getting into corners and niches where a grinder won't fit (a die grinder gets right into the corners).
It'll make holes fast where the rust is bad (but that's a good thing really).
