Found this excellent forum while looking for a new welder.
I've got a sip migmate 150 dual purpose at the moment, and I've never really got on very well with it!.

I'm thinking I'd quite like a Portamig 185, I assume I can't go far wrong from what I've read.. (in that budget range)

Can you give some info on the car,model, engine size, transmission type, bhp.

Its a 1989 BMW 325i. The Bmw model designation was E30.
It has a 2.5 ltr straight six engine producing 171 bhp. (no cat)

Mine is a Manual Transmission 2-door dolphin grey 54,000 mile car that lived in scotland. Now to spend it's later years by the sea!
