New compressor help

Hi all, not been on here in a while. Looking for some advice on a new compressor. I currently have a SIP Airmate TN3/50 (3hp, 50L tank) compressor which has served me well.

However I am moving to a new place soon with a double garage opposed to my little brick shed. As such I am wanting to kit it out and one of the things I would like is a larger compressor which I can sit at the side and never have to move.

It has to be single phase, and I can wire it directly into the mains feed at the garage consumer unit if needs be. Also want it to be as silent as possible (belt driven I guess) as my current direct drive is noisy as hell, and it needs good CFM.

My current one is 14CFM displacement and 9.5CFM F.A.D, but when using certain tools I have to wait for it to catch up, especially when using the air cut off tool.

So what do you guys recommend? Open to all kinds of makes and model as long as it fits the above spec.

Seriously though I looked at the Wolf units on eBay, belt drive with twin pump and various tank sizes. My friend bought a SIP Airmate belt driven for £500 and it seems a decent quiet machine with a 100 litre tank and similar ones are available with 150 litre tank.

There is nothing wrong with your current one. I'd get one of the wolf 90l/3HP and join them together

Seriously though I looked at the Wolf units on eBay, belt drive with twin pump and various tank sizes. My friend bought a SIP Airmate belt driven for £500 and it seems a decent quiet machine with a 100 litre tank and similar ones are available with 150 litre tank.

I have looked at those larger SIP compressors, but the F.A.D is only 10.7CFM on them, so apart from the larger tank and belt drive making it quieter it probably won't be a huge improvement.

I like those!! 2nd one might be better as the first one says 45A minimum current requirement. As the garage is external to the house it all depends on what size of cabling has been run to the garage. If I can get away with the first one using 45A that might be the one to go for. Otherwise it will be the 2nd one.

That's an interesting idea. How do you go about joining up 2 compressors in a sequential setup? Might be able to put up with the extra noise if it lets me get double my current F.A.D for a fraction of the cost of the ones linked to above.

Connect the tanks together and adjust the cutout switches to kick in at the same pressure (ideally have them almost the same so they do an equal amount of work but the startup is staggered slightly to minimise current draw).

I have done this with 2x 2hp 50 litre direct drive compressors and ended up with enough grunt to spray my kit car in one go in clear over base. If you had 2x 3hp belt driven compressors that would be awesome, I reckon a DA would be within range of those. I'm actually thinking of upgrading to this kind of setup myself, though those twin pump ones from MM do look rather good, a lot of money though!
