Hi guys, I have my plasma table setup and running but the compressor is not really up to the demand of the table. What I am looking for is best bang for the buck on a 13 amp plug socket. The tank ideally wants to be 150litres but I suppose I could make do with 100litres, if the air supply to the tank was great enough. I suppose the motor is going to be around 2.2kw or 3hp ?

I have been looking at Abac compressors but I was wondering what reviews/thoughts you guys might have on the subject ?

If you have enough supply they do twin motored and will give a lot of cfm.

Abac is great but costly.
I run a sip 3hp 14.4cfm 100l tank and is good but even the tyre machine will have it running almost constantly.

I was looking at Abac because we have a portable one at work and it lives constantly out in all weathers and never misses a beat. I was looking to avoid any of the cheap chinesium models out there. I dont want to spend crazy money but I dont want to buy summat thats not up to the job

I have a 200l 3hp abac about 10 years now. It's been faultless the whole time I've had it and it gets a lot of heavey use with me. I regularly have it running constant for long periods of time and it never complains. I've actually never adjusted the belts since the day I got it

Its a funny old world sometimes and sometimes you just need to be in the right place at the right time. I was asked this morning if I would do a welding job for a friend of mine. It had to be done today so it could go out to site on Monday. I did the job (your see this in another thread) and he paid me for it. I was telling my friend about the new cnc plasma table I have and the issue I was having with my air compressor not being up to the job.
Come with me he said and he pointed to this fairly new Wolf Dakota 150 litre compressor. Is that any good to you ?

Apparently it had only been used for a short time and "nobody had dropped something onto the terminal box " the wires had shorted out in the terminal box and the compressor packed up. The terminal box does have damage to the top where something has hit it and it may have shorted the thing out, I have no idea. The upside to this is.......... he told me I could have it for nothing because I was in need of one and they had gone out and bought a screw compressor anyway so it was just taking up space.

I know nothing about terminal boxes or where to buy them so if anyone has one sitting around for a 2.2kw 3hp motor I would like to hear from you

If this is for use in the dungeon Badger you may be better off with something like a hydrovane or screw compressor, a hell of a lot quieter.Just thoughts.

They are big money Bob and probably not cheap to run, I can see Lisa wanting to get more Horses for her collection if I start ramping up the toys and leccy bill the vets bills are already bad enough now

How small an area is this compressor going to be in? I had mine inside my workshop when I got it first and it wasn't long getting moved outside. This things are seriously loud in enclosed spaces.

Its going to be living outside BUT now I have been tempted by BOB to be looking for hydrovane type screw compressors, I know even less about those are there things to be looking out for with screw type compressors ? things to avoid ? companies to avoid ?
