New compressor time.

I'm painting some posts for my drive gates and once I've fabricated the gates ilk be spraying them but the tiny Stanley jobbie from screwfix isn't up to the jib, tried in the past but failed.

So I've got circa £400 and a machine mart vat free voucher but it doesn't have to be from MM if it isn't much over the money I've got.

I've also got a dedicated 20amp 240v supply as well.

Light spray work, air gun, tyre inflation ect...

What would you recommend.

^^^^^. Had mine about 18 years now, seems daft that they are discontinuing the SE16C150 as it has been a good seller over the years. Being replaced with the XEV16/150.

How come you have a dedicated 20A supply, is that the breaker rating?

u will find it will run ok on a 20 amp supply using a c type breaker. its full load running amps will only be about 12 amp. its the starting current that's high

What would you normally use a 20A breaker on in household applications?

u can use them on a radial 2.5mm circuit =sockets.some ovens are 20 amp . if u have it wired in 2.5mm u can go to a 25 amp breaker for a new comp

32amp house to garage supply running through 4mm SWA, 20amp type c circuit in the garage for my welders, 16amp for the sockets and 5 for the lights.

I did spot that compressor but the 30amp circuit statement put me off.

Just rang the depot the compressor is at and it's not for sale as it has parts missing and there's a small reduction so the vat free voucher won't be accepted...
Looks like I'm looking at the XEV16/150.

I would be interested to see how this performs, my SE16C150 has given excellent service over the years with very little work required.

Well I had a trip to my local MM and used my cat off token on an XEV16/100.
I saw the size of the 150 tank and it was too big for my garage so I plumped for the 100ltr tank.

Report back once you fired the new compressor up and given it a thorough testing.. am looking at the xev16/150 meself...

I wouldn't like to comment on the fill time of the 150ltr tank but it dwarfs the 100ltr tank on mine, I originally lumped for the 150 but once I saw it next to the 100 I wouldn't have fitted it in my cave.

The acid test will come in winter when you start it first thing on a frosty morning.

What's the noise level like on it?

Not bad actually, not quite but not deafening like a direct drive unit.
