New Dragonfly

I have been working for ages on a large piece of work.
Lately life has been confusing so I needed something on a smaller scale to occupy myself.
My last Dragonfly sold a while back and I need some smaller stuff for my art week event.
Wingspan 1.5m, the body and mount will be rusted, the wings are going to be Zinc plated and then the attachments covered by the small cowl.

Mounting, I have used reeds to support it, simple and avoids unneccessary details.

Pleased to have done this in the curent state of affairs,
finished it yesyerday. More photos after rusting and plating.

i have a phoenix on my arm, still needs colour and then a dragon below it, only mention it as i reckon a dragon breathing fire leading to a phoenix would be an interesting (and challenging) sculpture

Phoenix as a symbol of rebirth. Hmm
So much to do in the meantime though,

Zinc plating with a yellow passivate on the wings would look good against a rusty body.

Dont like the yellow finish, a bit too industrial.
But thanks for the idea, I will have to blag some samples of it to hang on my workshop wall.
This often triggers ideas.

i like the blue passivate on decorative stuff, nothing too over powering, just a tinge to the steel

That look awesome. That tail would look good on a scorpion and if it's made how I think (balls and pipe?) then you could drill and thread elastic through it to make it pose-able.
Do you ever use corten when you want things to rust?

Looked at buying corten, the suppliers dont want to deal witn small people like me.
In real life i dont think rust becomes a structural issue for years at this scale
I have some stuff that has been sat outside for about 8 years and is fine.

That is very nicely done, I would like that! You say that the front grabby things are missing, when or if you do put them on can it be holding a hornet to scale, lol. Liked your trumpet player as well.
