Was thinking about doing this as my next project and assumed that the component parts would be available. So come up with a design, order the parts and weld together.

Googling a bit and I found this supplier, they seem to have an almost limitless variety of gate and fence parts and a design tool.

Just need to put a bit of thought into the design, or get my graphics design daughter to come up with something better.

It would be good to try to reinstate the fencing that was nicked for the war effort.

Obviously your railings will have come from a local foundry.

A blacksmith friend has worked with Ballantines (Bo'ness Foundry) getting railings, etc cast for mostly Edinburgh New Town.
He has supplied them with damaged railing parts to make a pattern from.
They have a fairly extensive library of parts they can cast.

If you were keen you could print any of those profiles and slip them over simpler round or square tube. Protecting them from subsequent welding heat might be a challenge...

Plenty of metal impregnated filaments around.

Sciaky supplied a lot of spot welding kit to Rover before been replaced by British Federal gear, they also built a couple of transfer lines to spot weld the Metro bodyshell in about 1979.

And I never, ever saw rust just coming out of any Rover panel - but from badly protected ones, yes, loads...
