Hi guys im Gary from Christchurch and for all my sins find myself getting back into welding , i must admit it has been a while and a few things have changed .

I found my self in this position as the thiefing gits who own garages are getting so greedy round my area that there was alot of people trading in their cars under the scrappage scheme as it was just to expensive to get repaired , but now the scrappage money is running out i think i can get word out about myself enough that when it finally stops i should be able to make a sensible wage.

Any way i hope to chat with you soon and will put up what i can when i can any info to help any of the guys who may be struggling

I'm just pottering about at the moment Gary. Welding, metalwork, woodwork et al has just been a hobby for me for years but I recently took voluntary redundancy and (very) early retirement from an office job and hope to make a bit of pocket money to supplement my pension. I did a metal sculpture course with Chunkolini from this forum the other week and hope to do a bit of that. In the meantime I've been making some specialist 'tools' for a local college. I'll PM you my location.

Any info on reputable local welders? I am planning on learning to MIG for my camper van work but would be happy to pay a welder who wouldn't mind me helping / learning during the work too.
