Hey guys
My name is Andy, I'm 26 years old and I'm from New Zealand. I have never welded in my life before but have decided to learn because it seems like a very useful skill to have. I've just bought a basic home Mig 150A setup.
I particularly chose this forum because of it appears to have a very friendly approach to learners. I will be lurking a lot to begin with but I look forward to discussing with other users and in time adding my own contribution.
So why would I want to weld? I've attached a picture of my little rust trap (1985 Toyota MR2) below. I'm particularly adverse to paying people to do work I can do myself, so here I am. I plan on getting as close as possible to excellent condition and then doing some modifications with the aim of making it a fun track car but a high MPG daily driver. I also have a 2005 Mitsubishi Evolution IX Station Wagon which is useful for when I need to carry more than 2 people
Now to wait for my welder to arrive and for the learning to begin. Time to start reading.
