Hi folks.
I am a mechanic from Troon in Scotland.
I have been a car nut as long as I can remember. My taste in cars seems to draw me to cars prone to ferrous oxide (Minis, Japanese makes and now my FIAT) so it was only a matter of time before I learned to weld.
I have had no formal training, my first welder was an old Clarke gasless one (Yeah, I know now) and I taught myself to weld on my 1st Mini (was 15 at the time) which taught me a great many welding skills (how to treat burns, why you need a decent welding mask, the flammability of wiring/carpets/upholstery)
I've got better since then!
My current project is a FIAT X1/9 ebay impulse buy. I'd never wanted one before but it was cheap and relatively local. The seller naturally swore it didnt need much for its MOT. My head and my wife said no. My heart and my bidding finger said yes.
My current welding machines are a Ferm 90amp spark maker (actually ok for a cheapie) and a Sealey supermig 150/5 discarded by the bodyshop at work.
