Evening folks,
A mate recommended I popped on here as after being let down on numerous occasions I'm about to tackle my 4x4 that needs a bit of welding.
I've been offered a sealey 120 XT for an acceptable amount as I'm trying to keep costs to a minimum, is that going to ok?
Also metal thickness is 1.2mm ok?
Sorry for all the questions but I want to get everything sorted first rather than run around at the last minute.

welcome to the forum simon, i can't comment on your welder as im not familiar with that model but there are a lot of good guys on here that will do doubt be able to help.

the metal thickness you mention is it for chassis or body work?

There is plenty of power in that machine for your purpose.

It's not the most popular model around but not the worse either, make sure you see it working and welding a decent bead before parting with your cash.

you just need to make sure the amps go low enough, around 25-30 is ok for bodywork.

To keep costs down my options aren't great tbh, I was looking at a new sealey 150 but it's more than double what he wants for this one.

be sure it works perfectly first, no point throwing money away if you dont have a lot to start with, always get the best you can afford. Better to buy new at least your have a warranty

Choice of 2 at a local welding place,
Swp 150a and a clarke 220t. I think it'll be the 150a that I go with due to keeping costs down etc.
