I am looking at getting a speedglas 9100xxi fx and am wondering whether to get the adflo or not any advice would be great

No I don't I was asking because I want the adflo but I just didn't know if it was worth the £350 extra for it

And @Richard. would you buy new or used like new because i have the chance of a one with new filters and only been use a few times to do some tacking for £450

Just my two cants. There is an option for air feed from a compressor. I can't remember now if there is any difference with the lid, but I got that option. I use the lid only in tight areas so the adflo is a problem. If your air is also cooled it is quite pleasent with it on

The batteries are the expensive part. If they are good the unit will serve you many years. If they have had it, it’s gonna cost you an arm and a leg for two new ones. Filters are consumable it doesn’t matter what condition there in. If it’s in great nick there is no harm picking a second hand one up cheaper. They are top line gear so the risk is minimal.

It looks it there isn't even any spatter burns on it because it was used for tig I'll put a couple pictures of it up and see what you think

I thought it was its £450 but I'm going to try get it cheaper if not I think that's fair this ones just the xx not the xxi

Adflo is brilliant, and so are the 3m 9100 series. Have you tried on the FX version? Or seen in person? They are bigger and heavier than you'd imagine. I had one myself, but took the cartridge out the shell and in the standard 9100.

No I haven't tried one but it can't be any worse than what I have already it's not big what I have but heavy

While I just bought it for £330 plus post so I guess I got a good deal it's coming on Wednesday so we shall see

While the guy I bought it off was given it by a previous employer and it was only used for a few tacks with the tig before he moved on to outdoor positional welding wher he didn't use it

It came to day a couple of scratches but nothing to ha but I don't think it's the same model as advertised @Richard. an you tell me if it the 9100xx or 9100x

I don’t know much about the models tbh but logically thinking it’s the 9100x as that’s what is written inside.

We use the FX with Adflo. They are meant for production welding and are a bit cumbersome but very good quality.
Once you see the contents of the filter after a weeks welding you'll never weld without an air pack again
