I just received a machine mart catalogue with for me exciting news that a store is opening soon in Northampton Town.

May be me but I always find a shop visit rather underwhelming, the goods never seem to be as good as the catalogue would lead you to believe. Gone with the intention of buying and come away empty handed on more than one occasion.

Im the opposite, gone in with the intention of buying a socket and come out with a trolley full of stuff

Our local one is on a main road, has no dedicated parking, only on street parking and you usually have to park quite a walk away. Seems odd for a shop that sells a lot of very heavy gear. I'm sure it would be better used if it was elsewhere. Shame the email discount code thing has gone as that was a big incentive to use MM.

An odd trend indeed, new actual shops.

Or cannily, they've sussed older guys have saved hard cash and need to get out more, bored of the same old biscuits (intranet prons).

The one in Glasgow is like that, it's right on great Western Road so no parking at it or nearby it's a very odd place for it in amongst all the trendy expensive, restaurants, cafes, hair dressers and special food shops that that trendy part of Glasgow has. Would agree with @8ob order stuff from the catalogue if I need something cheap to do a job bit other than that when ever I have gone in come out empty. Usually overpriced and not a great selection on offer.
