Hi All

I've been a stealth guest reader on this site for many months. Its taken me that long to read through only half of the posts!

I'm looking at getting into MIG Welding for a bit of light fabrication, my dad has an old lambretta, my friend has an MG colander and I wouldn't mind having a go at knocking up some gates.

Was looking at the Clarke 160TM MIG Welder from Weldequip. Anyone know of a good source of second hand welders? or am I better off buying new?

Hi Mark and welcome to the forum.

New is always best I personally think and the one you mention is a good little machine, plus WE is a decent chap to deal with, the other option is a used 'more industrial' machine.

That could come with problems but in fairness some of the members have bought old industrial machines that look like skip ready but work great.

Ebay is a decent source but only if you can visit and get the seller to show you it working with good results.

Thanks Steve, I'm normally a sucker for buying new, that way I can only blame the operator for poor results!

You could always splash out and get a Portamig..costlier but a world of difference and built to last a liftime
