Hi all
New member to the forum and new to welding and just wanted some advice. A little about me, I am an ex solider 30 years old and want to take up a career in welding, prior to the forces I went to college and got a BTEC in engineering but seeing as this was over ten years ago is probably not worth the paper it is written on. My main question is what I can realistically expect to achieve I am currently doing a level 2 city and guilds in MIG which I am very much enjoying. I also have 2 army (ELCAS) training grants up to £2000 to use and there is also a scheme which lets me do a degree level course for free. I work in a vehicle repair factory as a semi skilled labourer so I am gaining bits of welding experience here and there. Also there is a pipeline welding company on my doorstep which is my ultimate medium term aim job wise but am nowhere near ready yet.
Any career advice would be very appreciated.
Cheers will
