New member with an old machine.

Hi to all,

New to the forum, but from what i have seen looks great.

Not done much welding but hoping to learn.

Ive been given an old MIG machine that needs fixing. From what I can tell it was manufactured in 1985 and has been used on and off ever since. Im having trouble working out who manufactured it as it has no makers name on it. I wondered if anyone can tell me any more information. Heres a few pictures.

Welcome and yep that certainly looks an old un, it is probably a well known make internally, they just put their own badges on them.

Worth trying to get it going though, could turn out a decent enough machine..apart from the visuals of course.

well its got a migatronic wire speed control , I know because i have a non working board sat next to me from my 180 mono
so would hazard a guess at it being a Migatronic or different branded version of a migatronic

Thanks for the information gentlemen helped me narrow down the search.

Done a bit more digging on the internet and have found that it is a re-badged Migatronic.

The problem that it has looks to be a fault on the control board. When it is first switched on after a few hours the wire feed will run for about 30 seconds then stop. It will then not feed again until a couple of hour have gone by. I'm suspecting the old caps on the board have dried out after 25 odd years.

Can anyone shed any light ?
