Hi,
I am a new member to this forum.
Actually my first welder forum.
I am used to Soft solder, arc welding and Oxy-Acetalene welding.
I live in Brackenfell, Cape Town.

I am now thinking of buying a MIG welder in addition to my existing arc and gas welder sets.
I would like to be able to weld aluminium and stainless steel as well.
According to what I hear I think that a MIG welder is the way to go.

I think you will find most people would suggest TIG is the way to go for stainless and aluminium, obviously a lot dearer to purchase than a MIG, not sure of the prices 'down under' but a good TIG outfit in the UK will see best part of £1000 (UK) eaten up, followed by a fair bit of cursing and hair pulling as the new owner gets to grips with it.

PS... 'down under' to me is any country where you have sunshine while we have icicles hanging off our bits

Cumbriasteve, here in SA TIG welders are cheaper to buy than MIG. If you go for DC only it is even more cheaper.
