Hello Guys,

As you know from the posts in the "sea of red" thread, last week I was in Germany for the MicorMig launch. Teh launch was very well recieved by the customers who attended (if not a little in-depth in places ), last I heard, more than 800 units have been pre-ordered, so all in all quite successful.

What is the cold wire option on the 220 tig

It's cold wire Tig. Available on most of our tig range, it's automated way of feeding the wire but it's not that great on manual applications due to the size of the torch required

The maximum performance section has german text under the image :
Akku 1 = Bis zu 28 Elektroden, Akku 2 = Bis zu 56 Elektroden, Akku 3 = Bis zu 74 Elektroden, Akku 4 = Bis zu 102 Elektroden

The bottom image title (Optimum Fl exibility) has a gap in the text as I have written it, also the image has Stromnetz under the plug image (which is not a Uk plug image either !!!) and Accu written as Akku.

Regarding the plug, it was decided to keep with the Shucko plug as this is more likely to be recognised worldwide than the traditional UK 3pin 13 amp type. Although the site is English its not specific to the UK.

Machines look nice though. I do wish EWM would wake up and take note about the ergonomics and overall look of their product. I believe they have the measure of Lorch and say Kemppi on a technical level, but both those firms have EWM beaten hands down on how flash the sets look.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think the look of a set should be a factor at all when selecting kit and the EWMs we sell are fine looking sets, but it's hard to imagine it doesn't play a part when it comes to first impressions.
I like the neat feature of the handle on the back of the feeder that would make lowering it through a hatch or down a ladder easy, and the light inside the feeder door. It costs nothing to incorporate decent design touches at the conceptual stage, I surprised more sets aren't built to be more operator friendly and less boxy and dull looking at the same time.
The new upright Kemppis are a prime example of this. I don't suppose it welds any better than a comparable mig in its class. But I bet it boosts sales because it looks fresh.

I must admit I do like the styling of the Kempii Tigs and especially the Minarc MMA/Mig range, looks really nice. But I am not overly struck on the upright one, looks like a pressure washer to me.

One thing I do think Lorch has got spot on with the MicorMigs is the fact that we can now add additional processes, synergic lines etc all via Near Field Communication.

Up until now, if we wanted to add any extra software to a machine, such as a SpeedProcess like SpeedArc or the like, then we had to physically be at the machine with a computer and communication hardware. It was often the case us or the distributor would spend two hours driving to a customer to do a software upgrade which took less than 2-3 mins.

Going forward, starting with the MicorMig, new upgrades can be added just by offering a piece of credit card sized plastic up to the front panel for a few seconds (exactly the same principal as contactless payment from Barclay Card etc) we are also now working on a Lorch APP, which means that the distributor sales guys don't even need the NFC Card. Providing they have a NFC enabled smart phone they can download the extra process/synergic line from the APP and then just hold the phone by the front panel.

It will make things so much easier in the field.

Another major advantage is that the distributor sales guy will have a "demo" card that he can use on any previously sold machines, by offering his card up to the machine it will enable all possible upgrade possibilities for a 8h period, this will give the customer the chance to "try before he buys" the extra processes and synergic lines.

Another advantage of it, is that the owner/foreman/supervisor can issue cards to his welders and depending on the skill level of the welder, that particular welders card will only grant him specific access levels to the machine. So with the EN 1090, its a great way for the company to be able to demonstrate that the welders are sticking to the parameters set within the WPS as one of the access levels could literally just be to pull the trigger on/off and have +/- 10% of the welding value for adjustment.

The MicorMig Microsite has finally gone live in English.

I have had a check through over the last couple of days and got a lot of the "poor" English changed but I am bound to of missed something, so as always any feedback would be most welcome.

I already raised the issue with the gas shroud in the Weldpool and I have also made them aware that text on one of the pictures to show the Insulated wire feeder is still in German, these issues should be addressed shortly, so if you find anything other than these outstanding issues I would be grateful

How are sales of the new machines going Matt? Shifted that stockpile yet?

That stock pile went before everyone got on the plane to come home I think European wide from the launch till now it's well over a 1500 machines. UK wise we have been having a series of mini launches and I think we're on about 200 units.

We have been demoing one of the new micromig sets in my workshop for the past couple of weeks and the lads have been very impressed with it.
