New regulator opinion please.

Have to purchase a new pressure regulator for my (old) compressor, and when searching am confused with vast differences in pricing. I need 1/2" fittings and most seem to have 1/4" stuff. Is this the norm now? I have also bought a fresh air helmet for 2 pack painting which also has small fittings due to weight saving I assume?
Advice would be appreciated.

The size of fitting is to do with the air requirement, no point in spending more on 1/2" if your helmet can be supplied with enough air through 1/4" fittings.

I am prepared to be shot down in flames but, generally a 1/4" fittings on a standard PCL will be OK for most things, with the exception of,

HVLP Spray guns
Any form of shot/grit blasting
1/2" drive and over Impact guns
Air grinders over 4"

Bit more of a dilemma though! The compressor feeds my blasting cabinet, 3 types of air tool, impact gun as well as the old Defynik, Shultz and new gravity guns. Suppose I could source a split outlet to put between regulator and outlet? Is this feasible?

Just put a T on the outlet one for your 1/2" outlet and one for 1/4". Most of mine have 2 either High Flow or PCL, but a few have PCL and some old Enots fitting my dad uses.

If you search Malleable Iron, GEORGE FISCHER is a brand i would recommend. Ideally you want galvanized finish. With the right fitting you can make up anything you wish.
