New scanner

I bought that new creality Raptor scanner. Impressed with my first attempts, but there is a definite knack to doing it. Their software could do with improvements . Tiny little pallet truck scanned pretty well

Work has just bought one of these for us to play with. It does seem really quite impressive.

Have you used the blue laser settings yet?
Only thing we found is it highlighted how poor our design pc was.
Scanning dropped to 8fps and filled the 8gb of ram we had fitted quickly.

Now it's been improved the scanning is smoother and better frame rate.

Yes, I have used the blue laser, that’s what the pallet truck was scanned with. Cannot remember the exact spec of the computer, think it’s I7 with 32gb of ddr5 ram. CPU was running at 100% at times, so next thing to do is upgrade the computer.

Watched making for motorsports video about him even using the otter and his computer does make a huge difference. As in restricted mode made it struggle.

Considering these are "hobby" scanners they are mighty impressive.

I'm looking at the Raptor too but unless it's a magnitude better than my Revopoint family I'll give it a miss. @Johnnybravo I see you have markers on that 'widget' surely it can feature scan that?

Was trying it out. Might be able to but wanted to see how the stitching of scans would work. Bear in mind that model I was scanning was tiny, most of those features are 1mm or less in size.Its software needs further development, initial results of removing the reflective markers in the scan definitely needs work, unless I am doing something wrong. But, that all said,it is very capable of doing what I bought it to do.
