New steel framed shed cladding

We're thinking of putting up a new shed, I managed to get a load of insulated roofing sheets from work 40mm thick, however not enough to do back wall and one side of roof which I knew when getting them, so I've been to see my local sheet dealer who deals in whatever he can get and he can really only has thick panels I.e 80mm upto 125mm so what I'm wondering is do people thing it would be an issue doing one side of roof in 40mm and other in say 100mm, I've attatched a very crude sketch of it in my mind bit would like others opinion to see what they're thoughts are. Ps the thickness of sheets make no difference in price so really I may aswell have the thicker ones as should keep me warmer

If you did it the opposite way round there would be less offset for the flashing to cover

Youd end up needing a bespoke ridge piece, or using one with similar length sides the centre will be off centre.

For ridge 1 flat sheet to match colour 1cut and 1fold simples.
You could get enough 100mm for roof and use 80mm for side's

Just get an oversized ridge flashing, they're commonly rolled to size by loads of companies around the country. Usually farming based companies

if its cheap Id be taking all you can get , then you can double up on the thinner sections on the inside as well ,, insulation pays for its self very quickly , then just gets cheaper after that ,,, win win.

they will be an effect by using thinner sheets on the apex

but my advice stop being a skinflint and buy 50mm insulation sheets and install them use the roof sheet to fasten the sheet down

90mm is better than 40mm and is closer to the 100mm

if you dont want to do that jack one side up by using 3x2s and fasten to them and use fibre loft insulation

That's what I thought I have flashing sheet so was just going to bend some up on folder being custom size

Based in wrexham, your suggesting link I thought make own ridge pieces ? I already have a load of 40mm sheets so don't want to waste them and ve spending more money. So front wall, gable ends and 1 side of roof would be 40mm and other side of roof and wall would be 100mm just wondering if anyone can see any issues with this

I cant justify the cost of doubling up on the inside but the one side of roof and back wall being 100mm would help I'm sure just trying to make sure before I buy extra sheets that it's a feasible idea

If I were to do it I'd buy all 100mm sheets for roof but seems wasteful seeing as ive got enough 40mm to do one side also. Well see though other option might be to buy all 100mm sheets for roof and have to use 40mm on outsides. Do you nor think the 40mm and 100mm could be made to but up against each other

Any insulation is better than none and me being a tightwad I would also use what ive got! Personally I would spend the extra and make all the roof 100mm though

100mm roof and 40mm walls is the way to go! 40mm just stops condensation, 100mm will retainheat

I would do the same 100mm on the whole roof to keep the biggest heat loss down, then use the 40mm on the walls!

You guys are gonna have me spending more money soon will have to price it up, only problem is the sheets that are 100mm are different colour and was trying to keep them on back as you can't see back, anyone know if you can paint them easily

i wouldnt if the truth is known

as i know it needs a frame anyway id use 40mm oneside and insulate within the framework
on the other side id go out and buy 50mm sheets and just buy box profile roofing sheets also insulate within the framework

then ive got 6" of insulation on both sides of the roof buying only what i need

as goes for the sides its framing anyway so just insulate it

Not sure if you have steel z purlins or if you have timber purlin but you will need to make up the difference in height on the side with the 40mm sheets with a 60mm spacer. Which should be simple enough but thought I should point it out.
