Hello to all the members, I have recently joined the club, I am 61 and going on 62 and just started a welding and fabrication course at the Leeds Classic car restoration College. When I left school 17 I became an apprentice tool maker at BSA Carbodies. So part of the first year was spent at the BSA School in Birmingham where we did the rounds of the tool room equipment including welding.
But I never finished and went in to Computers and dis that till I retired at 55. But I have a Toyota Supra MK3 Targa top, (hence the login name ) I have owned this car from new in 1987 and I have promised it to my youngest daughter when I finally kick the bucket. Although there is very limited rust like all cars they will do so. So Have lots of time and decided to do this course. I intend to do a few others and will come out at the end of this year with a great foundation in fabrication and welding, Mig, Gas, Arc although it isn't used a lot in car restoration and a bit of Tig too.
So I have a small Mig welder (hobby) need to get a bigger gas bottle instead of throw aways and maybe even do a conversion to a Euro type feed and pistol. So I will be asking a lot of advice here. Hope yo don't find this too long winded.
