Hello welders
Ive just found this site and it all looks pretty good so far.
My day job is a coded welder in the defence industry i am a certified group 1 missile welder in gtaw stainless steel & aluminium and i also gas weld hard braze and silver solder all to AWS standard.I'm lucky enough to use a miller aerowave welding set on a daily basis and i only use pure shield argon gas.
If anyone is interested i'll see if i can upload some pictures of some welding samples and we might be able to learn a thing or two from each other.

Sounds like you have an interesting job, I think you're probably the only member on here who welds missiles for a living!

I once installed a robot line to tend presses making missile casings, it could produce one casing every 2 minutes - I just wondered who would need that many missiles!

hi guys
my classifacation of a missile welder is used because i have to pass a series of welding tests to an american military standard.I am an approved welder of the american welding society (AWS).I have to reach this level because i weld parts for military aircraft and 80% of our work goes to the states so what they say goes.when a welder reaches this level,i am (believe me or not) allowed to weld parts/componants for nuclear missles hence the missile welder.And you would not want a weld failing on one of those in mid flight.
