New to Welding and This Forum

Hi all,

just bought a Butters weld wizard 180 to learn mig welding as I'm currently building a Mk2 Escort group 4 rally car. Already made a few welding attempts on the car but it takes me hours due to poor welding and blowing holes in the thin, sometimes rusty metalwork, nothing that body filler can't hide!!!!!!

You might notice that there are NO Photos of the welding, that's because it looks crap, but I'm sure it would be even worse if I didn't have such a good welder.

I've decided to halt doing any more repair work on the car untill I've practised more on old panels.

Welcome to the forum..and a great idea, blow holes in the scrap bits before you attempt the car.

However, don't worry about putting up photo's of your welds, it's the best way to get advice from members on here and I can guarantee yours wont be the worst we have seen, even if they are...who care's?...it's all about learning.

Noticed the tip was 0.8 so changed to 0.6 and increased the amps by one switch setting and the feed by 2, welding much better after a bit of practice. I'll continue this in the project section.
