New to welding from Gretna

Hi Guys, Great site ive bought a 71 beetle im wanting to put back on the road.
Im handy with spanner but always been daunted by welding!
found this site and decided to bite the bullet and learn to weld.
Im looking at ordering a wolf mig 140 it seems a good price, would it be suitable?
It needs the usal heater channels etc.
im gonna be doing the project outside and have read gassles is better for outside?
Im going to be doing this on a really tight budget so could be intresting!
Looking forward to reading more and learning all i can!

there seems to be a few wolf machines about however wolf went bust so parts may be an issue, have you thought about clarke machines they get a good review on here and parts are readily available

And if you choose the right model up grading to using gas from gasless would be possible. If you can create some shelter/wind breaks then gas would be a better option.

Welcome to the forum: Wolf would not be my first choice for a hobby machine, I agree with the suggestions you have had so far regarding Clarke machines.

I bought a second hand cebora/snap-on/boc 130 on e-bay for £70~80. Upgrade to eurotorch ~£50
Wolf might be a bit fierce for car metal as i think the are 40 amp minimum.
Also just got an automagic face mask today and what a difference that makes. again cheap on ebay £35 in delivery.
If you are working outside have you considered an easyup gazeebo of some description. Its bound to rain at the most inoportune moment and should help stop the gas being blown away.

That one will do you, and you can convert to gas if you want.

Where about are you would love to come and see your bus! What's the reg? I had a 74 bay sold it about 8 years ago!
