so today i found a local company call air power east. seeing as i was a short trip up the road i thought i would go and get some quotes for an air comp.
walked through the door sand sat in an office. explained what i wanted to use an air compressor for ect. they recommended one that would be more than enough, so i asked the all important question. how much? £638 inc vat. way way
way too much i said. i then explained that my dads business just spent £5000 with them on a new compressor and a few other bits explained who i was and walked out the door with a brand new in the box 200L 14 CFM FAD single phase air compressor for £482 inc vat. one of their vans followed me home with my new toy in the back. helped to unload it and they took away the cardboard box and pallet witch was a bonus it has a 3 year parts and labor warranty as well!!

i was thinking that. now all i have to do is plumb and wire it in
any recommendations on the best way to plumb it in?

i dont wish to put a dampner on your new toy but if the model of your new machine is 3/200BS1 the specs say 13 cfm 9.2 FAD ive only posted this so you dont buy tools that use more air then it can supply and waste your cash the specs are here

I have read the manual but it doesn't say about a break in period
Do all new compressors need to be broken in?

Personally I would run it in (like I would with any machinery), at least keep it within it's 50% duty cycle (15 mins on, 15 mins off over 30 mins) until it's got a few hours under its belt.

engineering tollerances and materials have come a long way in the last 20 years .. hydrovanes screw pumps and any piston pump have to run flat out in use . unless its some cheap setup it wont need running in

ok thanks i didn't want to break it the first time i switch it on.
does anyone know if the air hoses and compressed air pipe and fittings from tool station are any good?

I use the normal rubber hoses at the bottom of the page. Very cheap and great quality. Got p****d of with the various pvc s**te that I had collected over the years as it goes stiff in the winter. The black rubber ones in toolstation keep soft meaning no kinks or issues.

Well if you think about it it's essentially an engine with a piston cylinder conrod crankshaft but no bang taking place. It would still need to run in.

how do u work that one out ?? can u run generators in slowly or as stated screw or hydrovane pumps or even water pumps as said finish and tollerances on modern gear is far more superior than it used to be
