Newbie - Mini Project

Hi all

I'm embarking on a mini restoration, I am borrowing a Clarke 135 for now, which seems ok - given I am a beginner.

I have been advised to look at something of a higher quality, a local welding supplies company do a 'Warrior 170' Inverter MIG welder, but it will cost me £600 and I'm not likely to be doing another resto anytime soon !

Are these type of welders worth the extra ? Any thoughts appreciated.

your clarke should be fine to do a resto on a mini. Just make sure you have a nice clean/new liner and good wire along with a big bottle of Gas.

I use a clarke 100E for my bodywork work.

Agree with Bert, the Clarke will do the job fine as long as it has been serviced and running well, no need at all to spend loads of dosh for a one off restro.

If you decide you want to continue welding in the future, come back for some more detailed advice before selecting which machine to buy, I suspect the Warrior would not be one others would suggest buying.

the clarke will be fine for a starter welder.

Ignore the local thieves as there only trying to make money. Dont forget to take loads of pics and stick some up on here in the projects section
