Newbie needs advice

Hi all, I'm looking to make my own exhaust for my motorbike as a new one would be £300. So I'm looking to buy a welder, the steel tubing would be 2mm - 2.5mm thickness. Something like the picture but not quite as elaborate. What kind of welder would be suitable? Brand ? Model? Any help would be fab.

2-2.5mm wall thickness for an exhaust?

That's one heavy exhaust.

Thinner eh? 1mm? 1.5mm?

I'd imagine TIG would be the way to go on something like that. But £300 for an exhaust like that sounds quite reasonable. Might end up costing you more to make one yourself. Something to think about.

That's an ambitious project if you've had no experience of welding or fabbing, you might be better off stumping up the 300 notes.

Have you any welding experience and is this a one off project?

If the answers are no and yes, save the hassle and cost and buy an exhaust, it's probably the cheaper route.

If you wish to learn to weld for the future and would have other projects in mind then some idea of your budget would be handy to know, this would allow more accurate advice
