Hi everyone,
I've been wanting to learn to weld for years, but never really had the time, the space or the need to do so.
I've done a few odds and sods in the past, hole in the passenger footwell of me vr6, building a mock up of an oil rig leg with the welder/fabricator at my old job but usually been quite lucky in the fact that most of my cars have never really needed welding, and when there has been the need I had a mate and his dad who owned their own business near where I used to live in Leeds and they'd do it for me for a good price.
However.........my trusty (and rusty) pajero off roader which has been sat off the road for the last 18 months has developed a serious case of rusty body!
Luckily, chassis is all fine. It's just bodywork and luckily enough is all accessible, I'll get some pics up for you all later, just in the middle of prepping it, but what I thought was just two holes in the rear foot wells has developed into bits of rear arches, inner sills, drain holes etc.
Thought this is as good a time as any to learn to weld. All the rest of my mechanical and vehicle electrics is all self taught. I'm confident at engine swaps, diagnosing, bit of spraying, gearbox rebuilds and stuff, the only thing I've felt that holds me back is not being able to weld!
I've asked the old man for a MIG for Xmas, so expect some daft questions and mistake rectifications in the coming few weeks!
So far, just having a snoop about on here, it looks brilliant, and if its welding related and not on here then it's not worth knowing in the first place! Can see this turning into a long night staring at a computer screen!
