Thanks - some good advice there too - my reg seems to hold pressure for weeks so I'm always forgetting to turn the gas on.

So what do you make with your MIG?

Hi Malcolm,
Thanks for the response. I'm using my MIG on my Vintage Talbot restoration. I'm busy repairing the ash frame at the moment (that doesn't weld too well more's the pity!). The skin is a mixture of steel and ali panels so I shall be on quite a steep learning curve quite soon. I have made a new battery cradle using 4mm x 30mm steel strip - that was before I learnt that my MIG (Clarke 90Pro) couldn't do it. Good job I didn't know at the time but it worked quite well on full power - I suppose I got away with it because I was only tacking some cross-bracing by welding in the 90deg crossover. And if you want to know why I need 4mm strip, I have 2 90Ampere-hour batteries slung between chassis members (24V for starting direct on end of crankshaft!)
