Been a member for 2 years but never get time to post, started out as we all did, built a plasma and run it as a business for 7 years now, added some pics of the machines ive bought over the years. good forum hope i can help out some. Just bought a Irb 1500 with S3 controller to learn and make it weld.

Just bought a Irb 1500 with S3 controller to learn and make it weld.

If you need any info, I've got expert knowledge and drawings as I've built a few welding cells using Irb1500/S3

Robostar, This is all new to me, so far i have done the sync after it being unplugged, just learned how to jog it in its 3 modes, rectangular, robot and tool. Thats as far as i have got as it only arrived Thursday, are you near Corby, still out on which mig to use inverter or transformer, leaning to transformer though.

I'm in Brum, closest I've been is Kettering to install a few welding cells.

Can you post the info (if still legible) on the cabinet data plate should be Irb1500 - XXXX - MYY where XXXX is the serial number and MYY will be the model year M91A, M93 etc. BTW, XXXX should be the same on cab and arm!.

If the robot has a combi I/O board fitted it will give you full control of weldset (current, volts etc.) if it only has a digital I/O you will only be able to switch the weldset on/off.

If you can post a pic of the electronics racks I can tell you what's fitted.

no markings on the arm as it has been re-painted.

Inside it has, 1 large psu in the rack, 2 x 16 I/O cards and 1 sensor card.

If you're lucky the factory data sheet may still be inside the base, remove the plate where the umbilical cables go in at the bottom and there should be a small sticker/label with comoff/syncoff values and arm serial number

I can give you more info when you post pics of cab

I have original manuals and paper work, but they are in German, do these number need to match.

Ideally numbers should match, yours probably do as the arm would fault when you try to move it due to mismatched syncoff data, unless SMB (serial measuremant board) is mounted in the arm, I can't remember if Irb 1500 had that option but I do know the changeover was around the M91A/M92 year.

Post a pic of where the umbilicals go into the cab as well as the rack when you have time.

Hi Robostar, I unscrewed the umbilical no numbers in there, I have added some pics as you requested. must take a normal camera to work, my phone cant catch the ABB label.
