3M Cavilon barrier, way better than any of the baby specific stuff and you can use it on your hands in the workshop. Worked on my two kids backsides anyway.

It's good but it ain't like the original Gemolene ointment.

Chlorhexidine, which can cause allergic reactions in rare cases according to Wikipedia. Which is odd as I use that as a mouthwash on the advice of three successive dentists. I buy it in the poundshop for not very much.

I remembered the smell and corrrectly identified phenol as well, which seems a much more likely candidate!

Metanium was absolutely magic stuff. Nothing like it for healing open sores on a baby's arris. (Eldest had monumental digestive problems as a new baby due to allergies).

Nothing in it has been banned, AFAIK (titanium dioxide, titanium peroxide & titanium salicylate). The manufacturer has discontinued it due to supply problems.

It's not the same as Sudocrem (which we used to use as a routine).

Udder cream is our universal ointment as well .
I actually think it was this that Lilly the pink invented !
