Hi everyone, my name is Max and I'm in need of few tips please.

I'm painting a vespa frame and I was wondering if after the top coat I can get away with just waxing it instead of using lacquer (I was told lacquer is a pain in the backside to apply).


Also is it possible to spray paint rubber? If the answer is yes, which is the best paint to use?

hi, you realy should lacquer it, if you dont, youll never be happy with it, and it'l be less shiney, of course you could get away with it, but it wont be as a shiney finish, and as for the lacquer, it aint any harder than spraying the paint in my opinion, (unless its the rattlecans),. i reckon you could spraypaint rubber, with a few coats of plastic primer on it first (but dont hold me to that) and if it flexes, it will probably just chip off, whats it for? the legshield rubber?


ps, if youve never done much painting before then use cellulose paint + lacquer, its easier to use than 2k
and practice on some scrap metal before you go near the scoot!

I have done spray painting before really, just with rattle cans though.

I have used a waterbased filler primer on the frame (first time with a compressor) and it looks quite good (in my opinion). I will post some pictures.

I did use lacquer in rattlers and I had a lot of problems, so now I'm a bit worried in using it.

I wanted to spray a spoiler that is made of rubber but still not sure yet.

I have used protectakote before, good stuff! Unfortunately it won't look good on the spoiler as its a bit on the rough side.
