NPS to BSP adapter

I've just acquired a high quality US made spray gun for next to nothing , got some adapter fittings for it - I got NPT to BSP and on checking the spec sheet of the gun its actually NPS I need. Can't see much after a quick search, anyone know where to get NPS to BSP fittings?? Cheers!

The only difference between NPS and NPT is the taper so I would say an NPT adapter should work fine

Have a look for a 1/4 NPT to BSP reducer bush.

Thanks but I already bought a 1/4 NPT to BSP reducer bush and it won't screw into the gun without a lot of force... I'd rather not damage the gun and as it says 1/4 NPS thought I'd try to find out if such a fitting exists?

If you are expecting to screw all the way in then it won't, the taper is there ensure a fit. Is it a female on the gun and have you 100% got a 1/4NPT male to 1/4 BSP female and not the other way round. 1/4NPT to 1/4BSP wouldn't be a reducer bush as they are the same size and in many cases a 1/4BSP fitting will nip up fine in a NPT hole.

Generally the female will be parallel and the male tapered.

As armalites says. I think from memory there's 1 thread/inch difference between the two so BSP won't screw in but I would expect the NPT to engage a reasonable amount.

Thanks for the advice. Sorry it is an adapter rather that a reducing bush I have, definitely the right one as I can screw the 1/4 BSP PCL airline connector all the way into the female end of the adapter. The 1/4 NPT male end screws freely by hand into the gun for about 1 turn then about another 2 turns with a medium amount of torque from a spanner. I appreciate what people are saying about a tapered male thread into a straight female to create a seal so I'll test it out tomorrow and hopefully it will be airtight!

The NPT is a larger OD to BSP so possibly BSP will screw into it. Best way is check the threads per inch. NPT male will screw into a NPS female. The start of a NPT male thread should easily thread into a female NPS thread, the NPT is the same pitch, TPI and OD at the maximum as a NPS thread.
