Hello all!
I'm a total welding newbie and came here for advice, tips and tricks. I've just started my City & Guilds 'Introduction to Welding' Level 1 at Northampton College. I'm starting with Tig and I'm not finding it that easy but I'm enjoying it despite that.
Welcome to the forum, thought they may have started the course with the easier option of MIG but TIG is handy to learn so you are on a winner regardless.
Nice to see the old place is still going; I did my first training there, longer back than I care to remember. Tig was new then, so we did gas, arc and mig mostly, with the odd day on tig now and then.
Probably not!
I remember those of us who were a bit keen used to get there early and go through the mig bays to find a m/c which was actually working and set up fairly okay, and without masses of birdsnesting inside, and with more than half-a-dozen turns of wire still on the reel...
I think we followed an evening class of hopefuls from the job centre the night before, most of whom were only there because they had to be.
