Odd ball steel sizes

Not necessarily oddball as in the outer dimensions exist but not in 4mm wall thickness.

Anyone come across 50x30x4mm RHS and 27x4mm OD CHS? These were just very quick measurements rounding to the nearest mm because there's quite thick paint on them.

They are some "tie-rods" on a cherry picker that's had them bent so they are to cut out and replacements welded in. For obvious reasons the replacements want to be the same spec.

Where (in what country) was the machine manufactured?

For instance, a US-built machine would likely use US-spec. sections.

Yep, that's pretty much what I'd seen but it's definitely thicker than 3mm wall thickness. Don't think it'd matter for what it's purpose is but I'd rather keep it to the original spec if possible.

You’ll have to shop around,I’ve had thick wall shs and chs from Grange Steel before,such as 30/30/4, but it’s an irregular stock size,maybe available in seamless. Hub le bas have a big range of tube.

Does it need to be the exact spec as original -can you use thicker wall or go up a size?

Hydraulic pipe might have something to match the CHS?

Is the UK so much different than the continent steel wise?
Both 50x30x4 RHS and 27x4 seamless tube are readily available here in the Netherlands.

A length of the RHS would do and two of the tube/pipe.

The cherry pickers only for personal use but it is a 16.5m one so I'd rather just replace like for like. Going thicker would add more weight, the tube could go down if anything as I'm fairly sure (need to sit down and properly think) it just maintains the basket being parallel to the ground. The RHS is doubled up on two stays but as of today I think it forms part of the linkage to pivot the top boom on the cherry picker. It is "lower" down (only up to the 8m point) so could be thicker but ideally needs to be the same width to fit between the existing flanges at the end otherwise that's a whole load of faff to make new ones of those.

Not that it's particularly relevant but AFAIK speaking to a friend who's been through the loler inspectors course if it were ever to go for that then it would really need to be as per original manufacturer's spec otherwise can of wriggly things starts to leak.

Useful to know, I haven't phoned around anyone yet given the day, just been doing a quick Google now I've taken the angle grinder through the bars to see how thick the wall was.

William Twigg steel stockholders of Matlock (01629 56651, ask for the steel yard office), Derbyshire list 50 x 30 x 4, so it is available here in the UK, just might be a bit of a trek to collect it, I'd phone first....

They also list 26.9 x 3 CHS (cold formed welded) or 26.9 x 3.2 (hot finished welded)

How bent/damaged are they, pictures please?

Straightenable with some oxy (that I don't have) but to be honest if I can source replacements then it's far easier to cut out and weld in new ones. Also would rather given it's use not have to rework stuff.
