oerlikon rods

my local co-op has 3 different 6013 rods
citofix €12.49
overcord €18
fincord m €22

only difference i can see is citofix arent vacuum packed,but still plastic sealed

what are the reasons for the price difference?quality/consistency?

fincord m are really good rods

Im not sure about the others..........tell them you want fincord m at the overcord price

If the link works you can download data sheets for them here. There are hundreds of them but from what I can see each data sheet gives the targeted application. For example - I picked one and it mentioned it being suitable for applications where a good fit up can not be achieved.

Oerlikon produce over a dozen sorts of 6013 all with different, and sometimes slightly different, properties.

Click on the Norme AWS button and choose 6013 from the drop down list.

Citofix aren't on that list. Maybe they've stopped making them and old stock is being shifted cheaper?

As for the different prices, there are all sorts of reasons. Different materials being used, some items produced in smaller volume, charging what the market will bear and so on.

Presumably the price difference could be something as simple as the volume sold?

Since the Citofix aren't on the current list, maybe they are obsolete and being sold off cheap?

if they are ill be snapping as many as i can up!
theyre the only 'brand' rod ive tried so far and they are sooo much nicer to use

How big are the packets?

if they are 2 to 2.5Kg packets, those rods are very reasonable and if they are 4 to 5Kg packets, they're dirt cheap.

2.5 kg packets.
there are 3 stores within a 7 mile radius of me that sell them for the same price
same boxes and stickers as the fincord and overcord

oh,one of the stores has a load of dusty,but air sealed 4mm murex zodian 5kg boxes for around 20 euro.seemed like good value,but will my 160 amp inverter run these?
