Official Gov't cheap train tickets sale - 50% off until end of March

Back and bigger than ever: rail sale offers up to half price discounts on over 2 million tickets

Discounted rail ticket prices will apply to journeys made between 17 January and 31 March 2025 across Great Britain.

Next week <in 2 days> passengers will be able to get their hands on millions of train tickets at half the price as part of the government’s annual rail sale.
From 14 to 20 January 2025, selected advance and off-peak fares will go on sale at up to 50% off for travel between 17 January and 31 March 2025.
As part of this year’s rail sale, thousands of popular routes across almost all UK train operators, including Transport for Wales and ScotRail, will be offering discounted tickets with journeys spreading the length and breadth of Great Britain.

I don't see a page to actually book the tickets but guess that will pop up once the offer goes live.
This isn't the kind of thin I normally share but it looks like it could be useful, have fun

Judging from the overcrowded, standing room by the toilets only, jammed in with 300 other people one of whom thinks that the whole carriage wants to listen to hard-core jungle as loud as their phone will go, whilst half a dozen others shout into their phones to tell everyone that their on their way home, experiance from my last few train trips, you'd be better off clinging on to the outside.

Mixed reviews so far. Some comments say the choice isn't great and the savings are not a lot different to normal prices, I took the train (NE to Midlands) after christmas, the sale site has the same journey on offer for less than half what I paid. Be lucky

ps. I used the trains a few times over the holidays, almost all prices were fair (not cheap but ok), the only trip that had all seats filled was on the East Coast main line the day after boxing day. Happy travels !

I’ve done it in India in a younger life. And on top of buses. It’s exhilarating and free from the overcrowded sweatiness down in coach.

Side walkways?

We just clambered up using whatever foot hold we could.

The coaches in Nepal actually had large roof racks meant for luggage and cargo, but they worked well enough for people.

My opinion also, personally speaking Id sack the lot of em and start from scratch. Couldnt be any worse.
