Oil cooled welders

I was trained into welding on the pickhill bantam, was given one and bought one and i must say using them is just so pleasing, cause you know they wont ever let you down, but in all fairness theres no air cooled or inverter that can live up to them, yet there not to be had no more, sad because they were a work horse. The electroweld 250 air cooled, eh 10% duty cyle @190amp wat a piece of dung

they do die was testing one on sat for a forum member but agree with every thing you say no use as a portable welder though

Agree totally, but even with a portable air cooled, if your say erecting a shed, id prefer long cables even if it does mean crackin a few ribs to get her out than an air cooled with its little tity cables, that another thing air cooled machines not invetrted ones cant run long cables right at all

i have an old air cooled that was made probability in the 1960 its a bit more portable than an oil cooled but not much! Need to get some lead extensions

you can can get air cooled ones with long leads my 220 amp mig welder i bought brand new 9 months ago and i wanted longer cables on it so i bought a set a mig lance and a earth clamp 8 metres long the only problem is you have to make sure its not curled up if not the wire will not come threw

I have a never used Oxford 300 RT oil cooled and its a beast, weighs in at 386 Kg!!

You can still get Oxfords, and Olympics (same machine, made under license by C G & W Young) I know he`s got a few down there at the moment. Hate to think what shipping over there would cost though.

bejayus can ya, ya learn something new everyday but i price a pickhill bantam new 2 years ago with the battery charger in buttler in ballaghderriein for 1300 euro, the way the euro-sterling is would nearly favor me for buyin one in youngs maybe a 250 amp, but my two bantams do all i need and more, so its wanting over needing
