oil fill cap

Got a slight air leak from my oil fill cap.is this normal or not.

its as stated a breather dont wurry about it . it wouldnt be there in the 1st place if it didnt breathe

You should clean the breather pipe when you do oil changes and then check the one way valve for correct operation. It maybe sticking open hence the constant airflow.

On a single cylinder pump I'd expect air to be blown in and out of the breather. On a twin cylinder pump I wouldn't expect any airflow through the breather.

The breather is there to allow for expansion of the air in the crankcase as the pump warms up and to vent any blow-by past the piston (s).

I never understood the reason for the non-return valve - Landover owners usually dispense with the steel ball on the axle breathers.

Too much air coming out of a breather indicates worn rings or leaking gaskets.

Really? It's there for a reason. To prevent water getting into the axle as there's only supposed to be oil in there. Even a Chelsea Tractor could see some deep water on occasion and too much would soon knacker the axle/diff/wheel bearings.

Forget to mention- they extend the breather to above water level, still, the point is there is no ball valve fittted.

Furthermore, water can get sucked in past the oilseals, which is why they do the modification.
