oil holes

looking around my compressor today and say a hole in the head with oil wrote beside it am i supposed to put oil into this i thought you put it in the sump only

If you can find a manual online or have one for it, it may say somewhere in it "regular maintenance should be to oil xxx, every nnn months or hh running hours with ooo oil" !
If in doubt consult the manual. : )
