old compressor for air fed mask

I'm in the middle of getting all set up for an air fed mask. I was going to try my old compressor on its own to see if it can cope. It's a Clarke se18c200nd. Problem is at the moment its in my garage at the moment where we have done a bit of spraying. Will it be ok if its drained and re filled and put in a seperate shed outside or will it still be contimated with paint etc.

i presume u mean change the oil and not drain the tank as u said u would re fill it . just put a clean air filter on the inlet of pump and drain the air reciever u will undoubtably have an in line water seperator filter in the air line feeding the mask

I meant drain the air out of the tank and then let it run up again with fresh air

Oil compressors are not the best for breathing purposes, im going to buy the Aldi £60 compressor oil free, no tank just 8 bar supply of air and very small too. This means i can put it at the back of the garage through a window with no air leaks for 2k paint.

all the diesel screw compressors and hydrovane supply oil through the pump in to the compressed air and then its seperated through a set of filters and the oil is then cooled through a large radiator and returned to the tank . so there is no oil in any of the outgoing hoses they wouldnt use them to shotblast if they were going to contaminate the work . a large filter is used to feed the helmets as well

I will be buying a three stage filter to filter out any oil, water vapour etc so no worries about getting an oiless compressor

Can say from experience of using one, the Aldi thing isn't man enough. Just about got by running lower air pressures but it ran all the time (way past duty cycle), got very hot and made very wet air.

Think I'm just going to go with a sealey 50l 3hp compressor just for the mask as I don't think my compressor is going to be ok to power mask and gun even though I'm getting the pro visor which is low air use
